2026: FULL TEXT OF BAVCCA NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS

On behalf of the leadership and members of the Bloggers and Vloggers, Content Creators Association in Nigeria (BAVCCA), we extend our heartfelt New Year greetings to all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora. As we step into 2026, we call on every citizen to embrace hope, responsibility, and unity in shaping the future of our great nation.

This year will witness heightened political activities and preparations toward general elections, making it a critical period for our democracy. Nigerians must exercise discernment, prioritising integrity, competence, and vision in the leaders they choose at all levels – from local government and state assemblies to governorship, national legislature, and the presidency. Informed participation, peaceful engagement, and commitment to democratic values are essential to ensure credible elections and the emergence of leaders capable of delivering national progress.

Insecurity remains one of the most pressing threats to our lives, livelihoods, and national cohesion. Banditry, kidnappings, insurgency, and communal conflicts continue to disrupt communities and hinder development. Nigerians must remain vigilant, support community policing initiatives, and demand accountability from security institutions, while leaders must prioritise the safety and protection of every citizen. Peace is not negotiable; it is the foundation on which economic and social development rests.

The Economy continues to challenge the daily lives of citizens. Inflation, unemployment, and the high cost of living affect millions of Nigerians, especially the youth and small business owners. We call on the government and all stakeholders to implement policies that stimulate local production, create jobs, stabilise prices, and support vulnerable populations. Every Nigerian has a role to play in promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and responsible economic behaviour to strengthen the nation’s economy.

Corruption and Accountability remain major obstacles to national growth. Mismanagement of public funds, abuse of office, and lack of transparency undermine trust and stall development. Nigerians must continue to demand accountability, resist bribery, and support initiatives that expose corruption and promote integrity. Our collective vigilance is crucial to ensuring that leaders deliver on their promises and manage resources for the benefit of all citizens.

Education is another critical national concern. The quality of learning, access to schools, and investment in teachers and infrastructure directly impact our future. Every Nigerian must advocate for improved educational standards, equitable access to learning, and policies that prepare our youth for a competitive global economy. Education is the bedrock of sustainable development and a key tool in tackling unemployment and insecurity.

Power and Energy remain central to national development. Unreliable electricity and inadequate infrastructure continue to slow industrial growth, reduce productivity, and affect everyday life. Nigerians must support initiatives that drive sustainable energy solutions while holding authorities accountable for delivering stable and affordable power to households and businesses.

BAVCCA reaffirms its commitment to responsible journalism, ethical content creation, and the promotion of truth. We urge all Nigerians to reject misinformation, divisive narratives, and hate speech. Let us embrace dialogue, unity, and active citizenship as we collectively shape our democratic journey and national progress.

May 2026 bring credible leadership, improved security, economic recovery, educational advancement, reliable energy, and a renewed sense of hope and prosperity for every Nigerian. Together, we can build the Nigeria we deserve.

Signed
