Nigerian pastor and relationship coach, Kingsley Okonkwo, has set social media buzzing after declaring that there is no biblical passage that forbids Christians from having tattoos.
The cleric made the remark in a post shared on X, where he challenged long-standing beliefs held by many churchgoers about body art and spirituality.
According to Okonkwo, scripture does not explicitly state that a child of God must not have a tattoo, contrary to what is often preached in some Christian circles.
“There’s no scripture that says a child of God cannot have a tattoo,” the pastor wrote, a statement that quickly gained traction and drew wide reactions online.
Okonkwo’s comment has reopened an old conversation within the Christian community, especially among younger believers who argue that faith should be judged by character and conduct rather than physical appearance. Supporters of the pastor’s view say many teachings against tattoos are rooted more in tradition than actual biblical text.
However, not everyone agrees. Critics insist that Christians should still be cautious about body markings, pointing to moral discipline and reverence for the body as God’s temple, even if tattoos are not directly mentioned as sin.
As reactions continue to pour in on X and other platforms, the debate once again highlights the growing tension between conservative interpretations of scripture and evolving Christian perspectives in modern times.
