United States (US) Mission in Nigeria has condemned the deadly attack on communities in Kwara State that reportedly claimed the lives of more than 160 people, describing the violence as horrific and senseless.
In a statement shared via its official X handle, @USinNigeria, the U.S. expressed deep sympathy with the victims and their families while acknowledging efforts by the Nigerian government to restore peace and provide relief.
“The United States condemns the horrific attack in Kwara state in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of more than 160 people, with the death toll still unconfirmed and many still unaccounted for,” the statement read.
The U.S. Mission extended condolences to those affected by the violence, stressing the tragic human cost of the attack.
“We express our deepest condolences to the families of those affected by this senseless violence.”
The Mission also welcomed decisive actions taken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly the deployment of security forces to protect vulnerable communities and the directive to bring those responsible to justice.
“We welcome President Tinubu’s order to deploy security forces to protect villages in the area and his directive to federal and state officials to provide aid to the community and bring the perpetrators of this atrocity to justice.”
